OK, this one should at least be fairly short and sweet, so don't
fear the [M] tag...
While people have started changing the subjects again (huzzah!),
what a number of people (myself included, I think) are occasionally
forgetting to do is trim any superfluous tags.
The point of the tagging system is that the Subject of the post
contains _one_ (yup, a number greater than zero, yet less than two)
tag. This tag helps people to select or ignore threads on the
general category of the posts they'd like to read.
If you have more than one tag in the Subject line, you're going to
make it harder for people to make such selections, as well as
encouraging others (by example) to use more than one tag.
As such, if the old Subject has a tag, it's a Good Thing to either
remove the tag, or to 'deactivate' the tag by changing [ ] to { }.
(I'd advocate removal, as it's still possible to misread curly
brackets as square brackets on a casual glance, and the uninitiated
might well assume that they were *both* legitimate tags.)
It's a simple enough guideline: one tag in the subject; so do try
to remove any existing tags if you're changing the subject line.
cheers,
Gideon.

posts and at http://www.lspace.org/faqs/subject-tags-faq.g.html)

Mea culpa. I'd completely forgotten the effect that multiple tags might
have on filters. Thanks for the reminder.

Ah, thanks for this and apologies. I dithered last night when spinning off
from an [M] tag about removal or curlies, but couldn't remember what the
recommended action was. In the end, I forgot to do either.
Noted for future reference...
Cat.
